Originally, the house belonged to Charlie Matheson Jr. and his parents before his disappearance. After being divorced by his wife, Charles Matheson was left as the sole owner of the house. Emotionally distraught, Charles set the house on fire one night as an attempt to commit suicide, but managed to escape; quoting that the house "had to go" and "couldn't save him anymore." He later died from smoke inhalation.
During the events of The Arrival, Lauren finds the house while investigating a scream coming from the backyard of Kate's House. Inside, she finds Charlie in a decayed, proxified state. Coming in contact with him causes several visual hallucinations. Frightened, Lauren leaves the house. Later, she is taken back to the house, where she finally found her missing friend Kate, but gets attacked by her in Chaser form; ultimately leading to Lauren's demise.
