Slenderman's Shadow was an unofficial spinoff series of the game "Slender". It was created by Marc Steene and Wray Burgess. The series brings the classic terror of "Slender" into new maps, expanding adventures and terrors. The series was run on donations. A total of 8 maps were created before a full version was released.

The original website, http://www.slendermansshadow.com, is no longer active and redirects to an entirely unrelated website. However, Marc Steene has reuploaded the Unity remake no longer costing money on itch.io, which can be found here: https://marcsteene.itch.io/slendermans-shadow. A link to the original FPS Creator versions can also be found in a comment on that same page

Trivia[]

  • After the first map, Sanatorium, was released, it was stated that the next map was going to be a Pyramid based map. This was removed off the list of planned maps. Pyramid was instead replaced by Hospice.
  • Slenderman's Shadow claimed that Prison would be scarier and harder than all the previous maps that they have released. This is true because once you collect 1 photo, you have a limited amount of time to collect the other photos before the Slender Man will begin teleporting rapidly and likely catch you. In a tips and tricks video posted by Marc Steene, this time limit is said to be 130 seconds, but looking through the code reveals that there isn't actually a timer, but instead an aggression value that increases when the player collects a photo, as well as over time.
  • $1,000 had been donated to the Slenderman's Shadow Unity Engine maps.
  • After the Unity version of Slenderman's Shadow was released, download links for old map versions were deleted on the official Slenderman's Shadow Website.
  • The games get upgraded over time.
    • Examples of the game upgrades include:
      • More realistic looks on the maps and objects.
      • Slender Man having a realistic look, he also swings his arms and nods his head throughout the games.
      • In maps such as Prison and Hospice, you now collect pages instead of photos and poem lines.
      • The intros have also been removed in the new versions, except for Elementary, Mansion and Claustrophobia.
